Built for cyclones
Kolkata is in a high wind zone and took the full force of Cyclone Amphan in 2020. Structures are designed for the wind load at your roof height, with anchoring checked, not guessed.

Kolkata gets more sun than North Bengal, but its roofs are smaller, its neighbours taller and its storms stronger. Solarverse Solutions designs and installs rooftop solar in Kolkata and Howrah as an authorised Waaree channel partner, with net metering filed with CESC or WBSEDCL, whichever supplies you.
| Electricity supplier | CESC across most of Kolkata and Howrah; WBSEDCL in Salt Lake, New Town and most of the suburbs |
|---|---|
| Rooftop rules | WBERC rooftop solar (Prosumers) Regulations, 2025. Net metering from 1 kW up to 500 kW or your contract demand, whichever is lower. Surplus carries forward from bill to bill and resets to zero on 1 April. |
| Expected generation | 3.4 to 4.0 units per kWp a day on a shadow-free roof, about 1,241 to 1,460 a year |
| Sunshine on flat ground | 4.57 kWh per m² a day on average; strongest in April (5.9), weakest in December (3.5) |
| Noon sun | 44° above the horizon on 21 December, 89° on 21 June, almost overhead and just to the north |
| Daylight | 10 h 45 min on 21 December, 13 h 31 min on 21 June |
| Winter parapet shadow | A 3 ft parapet on the south edge shades about 3.1 ft of roof at noon on 21 December, and 4.1 ft at 9 am. Panels start beyond it. |
| Home subsidy | PM Surya Ghar central assistance for homes on DCR panels, up to the 3 kW level. Amounts and process. |

City roofs share space with tanks, stair rooms and the building next door. Raised structures clear the clutter, and we model the neighbour’s shadow before we promise a number.
Common-area solar for lifts, pumps and lighting, with the paperwork a society needs to approve it. See solar for housing societies.
Both follow the WBERC 2025 regulations; the forms and the offices differ. We file with whichever supplies your building.

Yes. A society can run its common-area loads, such as lifts, pumps and lighting, on a plant on the shared roof, net-metered on the common connection. Read solar for housing societies.
It should, if the structure is designed for the wind load and anchored properly. We design for the wind at your roof height and size the structure, fasteners and anchoring for it, rather than fitting a one-size kit.
Send your last three electricity bills and a photo of the roof on WhatsApp. You get a written sizing, whether or not you buy.
