Questions we are asked every day

Generation, sizing, power cuts, subsidy, warranty, loans and roofs.

How much will a solar plant generate in Bengal?

On the plains of Bengal and the Bihar border, a well-placed plant typically makes 3.4 to 4 units per kWp per day averaged over the year — roughly 1,240 to 1,460 units per kWp a year. March to May run above that; December and January run well below it, and the monsoon months a little below. Sites in South Bengal often do a little better. We quote a band, and we run a 3D simulation of your actual roof before we commit to a number.

What size of system do I need?

Start from your bill, not your roof. Under West Bengal net metering the units you export are set off against the units you use, but anything still banked on 1 April lapses unpaid. So we size to your yearly consumption — and never above your sanctioned load or contract demand, which is the legal ceiling. Try the estimator for a first figure.

Will solar keep my lights on in a power cut?

Not an on-grid plant. By design it stops the moment the grid fails, so it never back-feeds a line someone is repairing. If you need backup, a hybrid system adds a lithium (LiFePO4) battery sized to the circuits you cannot lose.

Do you handle the subsidy and net-metering paperwork?

Yes, end to end: National Portal registration, the PM Surya Ghar application, DISCOM feasibility, net-meter installation, inspection and the subsidy claim. Statutory fees set by the DISCOM or the state are paid at actuals, but we prepare and file every document.

Why do you only install Waaree?

Because one accountable manufacturer is better for you than a mix of whatever was cheapest that week. Waaree is India’s largest module maker, the only Indian manufacturer rated A for bankability by PV ModuleTech, and it makes its own inverters. Here is the full case, with sources.

What warranty do I get?

Waaree N-Type TOPCon modules carry a linear performance warranty that still guarantees 87.4% of rated output in year 30, plus Waaree’s product warranty. Inverters carry the manufacturer’s warranty. From Solarverse you get one year of free maintenance from commissioning and live monitoring on your phone.

How long does installation take?

On a home the site work itself takes a few days; the overall timeline is mostly set by the DISCOM’s net-metering process. Commercial and industrial plants are typically completed within 45–60 days of the work order, subject to site readiness and approvals, with only a short planned shutdown for the final tie-in.

Do you sell Waaree products without installation?

Yes. Installers, dealers and customers with their own electrician can buy Waaree modules, inverters and kits from us supply-only. Browse the range and ask on WhatsApp.

Does solar work in the monsoon and in winter?

Yes. Output drops on heavy-cloud days in the monsoon, but the weakest months here are December and January, when days are short and often hazy. Under net metering, extra units from sunny months are credited against the units you use in the cloudy ones, so we judge a plant on its yearly total. More on generation by month.

Can solar go on a metal shed or tin roof?

Yes. The panels are fixed on rails along the sheet roof after we check the sheets, purlins and fixings. Sheds usually need less area per kW than flat roofs because there are no gaps between rows. Any repair the roof needs is flagged before work starts, not after.

I live in an apartment. Can I still go solar?

Housing societies can put solar on the common roof for lifts, pumps and corridor lights, and eligible societies get central assistance for it. If you have your own balcony, a Waaree plug-in balcony kit may suit you. Solar for housing societies.

How often do the panels need cleaning?

Every couple of weeks in the dry, dusty months, with plain water, early in the morning or in the evening. Less often in the monsoon. We show your staff how on handover, and the monitoring app tells you when output drops.

Can I pay in instalments or take a loan?

Homes installing under PM Surya Ghar can apply for a concessional, collateral-free loan from public-sector banks through the national portal. Businesses usually use a term loan from their own bank. Either way, we provide the proposal and documents the bank asks for.

Which areas do you cover?

All of West Bengal — Siliguri and North Bengal, Malda and Murshidabad, Kolkata, Howrah and South Bengal, and the Durgapur–Asansol belt — plus Sikkim and Bihar. See the areas we serve.
